On the 16th December 2020 the Welsh Government made a statement regarding the Christmas and New Year period. The announcement affects us all and we fully appreciate that things are a little unclear and confusing. We have tried to clear up some points and answer some of your questions. Hopefully upon reading the information below you will have a clearer understanding of how the latest Government advice affects us and in turn, affects you.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ARE TIERS 1 AND 2 ABLE TO TRAVEL TO GOLDEN SANDS NOW?
The current English Government legislation does permit people with a registered address in tiers 1 and 2 to travel however the Welsh Government have advised against all non-essential travel as Wales is currently at a national level 3. The Park is open but we ask you to consider these points before deciding to travel to park.
ARE TIER 3 ABLE TO TRAVEL TO GOLDEN SANDS NOW?
The current Government advice is that people with a registered address in a tier 3 area are able to travel to pick up essential items or to Winterise/secure their caravans ONLY. There is no other reason permitting travel and overnight stays are NOT permitted. You must call or email ahead to ensure we are informed of your arrival.
CAN ALL TIERS TRAVEL AND STAY AT GOLDEN SANDS BETWEEN 23rd – 27th DECEMBER?
Yes. The UK Government have agreed to permit people living in any tier to travel in order to meet their bubble throughout the Christmas period.
CAN WE MIX WITH OUR BUBBLE BETWEEN THE 23rd – 27th DECEMBER?
The Welsh Government have specified that the Christmas bubble is limited to 2 separate households. This can be made into 3 households if 1 person lives alone and has joined one of the participating households to create an extended household. Once a bubble is set it cannot be changed. We are permitting travel to Golden Sands for the Christmas period but we ask you to stick to the guidelines and only mix with people in your set Christmas bubble.
WILL ANYTHING BE OPEN DURING 23rd – 27th DECEMBER?
Reception will be open from 10am – 4pm daily with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Due to current Welsh Government guidelines we are not able to open our facilities.
ARE WE ABLE TO GET GAS BOTTLES?
Gas bottles will be available until 2:00pm on Christmas Eve. From 2:00pm Christmas Eve until 6:00pm Boxing Day there will be no way of getting gas bottles. Normal service will resume at 6:00pm on Boxing Day.
WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH ENTERTAINMENT FOR CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S EVE?
Current guidelines do not allow us to provide any entertainment until further notice.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT ON THE 27th DECEMBER?
At 5pm on 27th December, Wales will go into level 4 status which requires full lockdown. This means that EVERYONE will be instructed to leave Golden Sands before this time. We will be unable to permit anybody staying on Park unless it is authorised by the Council.
Please note that if you were permitted to stay in March or throughout the Firebreak that this does not automatically mean you will be able to stay again. Each individual case will be dealt with by the Council and we will be led by them and their decisions. Laurie and the Golden Sands Team cannot and will not give authority for anybody to stay without Council authorisation.
We would also like to remind you that Wales will be in a National lockdown, meaning not only Golden Sands but the whole of Wales will be closed. Non-essential shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, attractions, entertainment centres etc will all be closed.
We will be putting the gates back on the main entrance and only people permitted to stay on Park will have the code.
WHAT DO WE DO WITH OUR WINTER LETS FROM THE 28th DECEMBER?
As the park will be closed, we will not be permitting any Winter lets. We ask that where possible you to please cancel/reschedule you Winter lets. If you feel that your Winter let is essential then it will need to be authorised by the Council.
WILL WE BE GETTING SITE FEE REBATES IN 2021?
This is something we are still looking into. As you are aware the guidelines and rules are changing regularly meaning some questions we don’t have a clear answer for just yet. Please be patient and we will update you regarding this point as soon as we can.
We ask that you all continue to be respectful and courteous to our hardworking Teams and that you think carefully and sensibly about any decision you make to travel to Golden Sands. We are extremely sad that will not get the usual Christmas spirit we have on Park and know that we will not be seeing many of you until next year.
Please stay safe! Look after each other and let’s all do what we can in order to make this a happy but safe Christmas so that we can all come back together and have a great 2021!
