Lockdown Life with Nikki Fletcher

The world as we know it has changed for us all, so we thought we would do a series of interviews with some of our staff at Golden Sands Holiday Park to see the impact it has had on their day to day lives. First in this series is the lovely Nikki from our Accounts Department…

Nikki is the Accounts Manager at Golden Sands Holiday Park and works very hard to ensure all the bills get paid. Here is what life in lockdown is like for her…

Are you still working during the lockdown?

Yes, I am still in the office full-time.

How has your job changed during this period?

I’ve had to take on extra duties as my assistant Caryl has been furloughed. It means that I’ve had to get back to basics and do things I’ve not done for about 9 years, so it has been quite challenging!

What has been the biggest impact of the lockdown for you?

My day to day life hasn’t really changed a great deal as I’m lucky enough to still be able to come to work every day. It’s just the little things you notice on your day off, like not being able to just jump in the car and go out for lunch.

What’s the best thing about being in lockdown?

Not being disturbed every 5 minutes ?

And the worst?

Lack of social interaction. I know everyone who knows me will probably laugh at this as I am not the most social person at Golden Sands (that’s why we put her in an office ?), but I miss having little chats with people and giving someone a hug that I haven’t seen for ages.

What’s really helping you get through this period?

Getting a Starbucks (other coffee suppliers are available) from the garage on my way to work.

What are you looking forward to most coming out of lockdown?

Seeing my family, closely followed by going to the cinema.

Is there anything you would like to see continuing post-lockdown that has arisen out of this global pandemic?

I think as a country we have always taken the NHS for granted and I hope that once this pandemic is behind us we don’t revert back to that.
