Our guide to What’s On for the school holidays is just a few ideas for days out in North Wales. We will also have lots happening on the Park for all ages, so you will have plenty to choose from.

Circus Abyssinia: Ethiopian Dreams: 19th-23rd July

Ethiopian Dreams

Enjoy a fun family show of acrobatic daring and dance. This is the first Ethiopian circus made by and for Ethiopian artists. The story at the heart of the show is a mix of autobiography and dream and tells how two Ethiopian brothers came to be jugglers – not from an adult perspective, but how they dreamed it as children.

Drudwen: 23rd-24th July

Drudwen

Circus, physical theatre, spoken word and music combine in a dark modern fairytale told in Welsh and English. Drudwen is a story of transformation, choice and consequence. Abandoned twins are discovered in the forest by an enchantress to unveil a fast-moving and funny story.

Llandudno Jazz Festival: 26th-28th July

Jazz Festival

Three full days of the best UK Jazz in the stunning setting of Bodafon Farm Park. Book a weekend or day pass, or passes for individual performances.

Menai Food Festival: 3rd – 4th August

Menai Food Festival

A weekend of delicious international street food, food & drink producers, crafts, music and family fun. This event attracted thousands of visitors last year and is expected to be just as popular this year. There will also be live music and a mini funfair. Parking is free.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Rhyl Miniature Railway: 3rd – 4th August

Children can claim a free train ride if they bring their teddy bears with them and are accompanied by a paying adult. There will also be a wide variety of family fun attractions.

A day out with Thomas the Tank Engine at Llangollen Railway: 9th – 11th  August

Thomas the Tank Engine

Take a ride with Thomas, meet The Fat Controller and enjoy trips on Thomas up and down Llangollen Station, you can ride in Rickety and Clarabelle as many times as you like. Take the Big steam Engine to Carrog and listen to the storyteller. You can also see Rusty and Dusty… and have some fun. An excellent day out for all Thomas fans, with plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

Hawarden Old Castle Open Day: 11th August

Hawarden Castle

This is one of the very few days of the year when you can head to the big red gates opposite The Glynne Arms on foot and on up to the castle for some spectacular views. All entrance fees will be donated to Clwyd Special Riding School. All children must be accompanied, and be warned that paths up to the castle are steep

Wild West Weekend at Rhyl Miniature Railway: 17th – 18th August

Rhyl Miniature Railway

Come along for a Wild Weekend in the West of Rhyl. Will the train be ambushed? Lots of cowboy-themed activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Wild Nature at Penrhyn Castle & Garden: 22nd July – 26th August

Penrhyn Castle Gardens

Come along for family fun activity days in the garden, every Monday during the school summer holidays. Join the amazing Wild Elements team and interact with the wild world, explore, create, learn, experience and think; as we go wild in the woods and get back to nature!

The Deep – a world premiere exhibition made with LEGO: 16th July – 7th September

LegoThe-Deep

The Deep, features a magnificent collection of hand-built LEGO® brick statues. Come face-to-face with a 1.75-metre yellow tuna fish – made of 13,000 bricks; a fearsome Mako shark created with 80,000 bricks; a massive giant squid containing 120,000 bricks which is over 2.5 metres tall and over eighty other creatures!

Be sure to book onto a Make & Take Workshop where you can create and take home your very own small LEGO sea creature – chose from a turtle, a fish or shark.
